18/03/07 - A wee update...MGB are back in business

After a long absence recuperating, resting and reheasing, Mind Gone Blind are back in action! As some of you may know, after Prod became a dad, we were ready to start gigging again until Rob broke his hand which put paid to any more gigs in 2006!

New Year has come and gone but things are stirring again!

MGB played two 'comeback' gigs in February, one in Rothes and one in Buckie and have another gig lined up in Keith in May. Between these gigs the band are writing new material, some of which should be aired for the first time in Keith on the 6th May. Any other gigs and announcements will be posted on this site!!

OTHER NEWS

The first track recorded with Shane has been included on a compilation album. 'Be' is included on 'Ghosts of the North' which has been released on Spook Records and has received some great reviews so far!

Prod and new mum Kerry are over the moon and the rest of the band are delighted at the prospect of heid weetin!! We will be taking a break from gigs for a few weeks to let Prod practice his nappy changing skills....and finish decorating the nursery!!"

The rest of the band are delighted to welcome Shane on board and we're looking forward to rocking as many venues as we can together and developing truckloads of kickass new songs! 04/12/05 - Gig News

We will be playing The Commercial Hotel (The Comm!) in Keith on the 18th December along with talented local acoustic performer Chris Grant and the fantastic Ewan MacFarlane (of The Grim Northern Social).

Since co-headlining the Keith Chaos Live gig with The GNS, Ewan has returned to Keith as a solo performer on a few occasions now and we are delighted once again to be joining him on the bill for this one. As acoustic singer / songwriters go, Ewan is one of the very best and he enjoys playing in Keith where he always receives a warm welcome (and more than his fair share of wind-ups!).

So, never mind the Christmas shopping, get along to The Comm for a mix of quality acoustic and, of course, some full band MGB shenanigans. Kicks off at 3pm!

24/06/05 - Keith Calmness

Keith Chaos Live, our second live festival appearance in 3 weeks took place in the sweltering heat of Saturday 18th June at Seafield Park , Keith....and what a day!

It was a fantastic occasion with headline acts The Grim Northern Social and The Bluetones both playing blistering sets to around 1200 beered up, sunburnt revellers. We slotted in on the bill at around 7pm and played tracks from both Time & Money EP and our new (still to be released) World Of Lies EP. A good response from both crowd and organisers left us feeling more than happy with ourselves and it was fantastic to be a part of this first KCL.

Backstage too was a scream with members of The Phoenix Band, Spindrift, Bullet Theory, Blue Gum Ears, The Method and our goodselves partaking in various boozy shenanigans throughout the day (we also carried out road crew duties, handling 1000's of pounds worth of other folks gear between sets and all the time getting drunker and drunkerer and drunkererer - sheesh!).

The setting is perfect, for a long time many people have remarked on how ideal "The Leys" as it's locally known would be for an outdoor gig and with a lot of hard work from the committee (including our very own Prod and Cammy and MGB webmaster Mark Aldridge among others) it is now a reality. The lions share of the plaudits has to go to Keith's very own Steve Purves as the event is his brainchild and Steve has worked tirelessly to make his dream a reality. For us and anyone else who was there it left us feeling like it could very well be the start of something big and with all proceeds going to the Keith Cancer Link charity it can only be a good thing. If you didn't make it this year MGB have a message for you.....DON'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!!!! Keith Chaos along with Speyside Music Festival can really put our area on the musical map. More of the same next year, good bands, good beer, good atmosphere, gooooood CENSORED, good times!

A great weekend was finished off perfrctly when Moyz and Cammy opened for GNS frontman Ewan McFarlane's acoustic gig in The Comm on Sunday with BGE and The Phoenix Band also doing their bit. A big thank you on behalf of everyone to Ewan for agreeing to stay behind and perform (incidentally he was F***in Fantastic!!!!), it couldn't have rounded off the weekend better.
Photographs soon......

28/05/05 - SpeysideMusic Festival - The aftermath!

The first ever Speyside Music Festival got underway in soggy conditions at the Alice Littler Park in Aberlour.

We were second on the bill to headline act Nazareth in front of hoardes of devoted rock fans who braved the conditions to be part of what has all the makings of being a huge attraction for the area. A top quality stage, sound and lighting combo as well as a bar with copious amounts of alcohol, made the whole day worth while for the crowd.

We've mentioned before what a HUGE honour it was for us to be on the bill with the legendary Nazareth (see festival photos at www.MusicVice.com ). Pre-gig nerves kicked in about....ooooh 5 minutes after arriving for hook-up (11am) and remained all day, only to be replaced by pure adrenaline when we took to the stage (9.05pm)...WHAT A RUSH! An hour long set to a fantastic crowd and we floated off stage, heads buzzing and hearts thumping.

It was a fantastic experience and great to be involved along with so many quality acts (Third Floor Rising, As Yet Unknown, Little Big Men, Raw Gallacher, Rob Tognoni....and on...and on....) who appeared either on the main stage or at The Aberlour Hotel throughout the day.

The biggest thank you has to go to the crowd who turned a rainy Saturday in May into our most amazing gig experience to date. This festival along with the forthcoming Keith Chaos Live festival can and will put our area on the musical map. The party-bred music lovers of the area deserve nothing less and we're just delighted to be a part of it all.
As a great man once said.....Keep On Rockin' In The Free World!!...and remember to join us at Keith Chaos Live

06/03/05 - ROB MAKES A STUNNING DEBUT!...then gets absolutely bladdered!
We're back! We played our first gig in 6 months on Saturday 26th February at the newly renovated Portessie Public Hall with Rob making a hometown debut.

Sharing the bill were local acts Days in December, Penthouse and Mute, whose drummer Dylan, was responsible for getting all the acts together for this awesome shindig.

Rob had a ball as he battered the kit mercilessly for the hour long set of our own material, which went down quite well...thankfully! Pre-gig nerves gave way to pure adrenaline, it was bloody great to be back playing live and the future once again looks bright. Take a look at these snaps, particularly the triumphant new boy looking most pleased with a good nights work. He spent the rest of the evening breaking various binge-drinking records so by Sunday the triumphant look may have withered somewhat!

To coincide with Rob's live debut behind the kit, we decided to spruce up the bass drums a little with the help of talented Keith graphic artist Ricky Scott.

Ricky has his own business, STICK EM UP STICKERS, and can put a kick-ass design on just about anything you fancy from cars and bikes to trailers and trikes! Contact Ricky at ricky.surf@virgin.net

P.S. Penthouse will be supporting us at the next gig - The Commercial, Keith on 26th March

02/02/05 - Speyside Music Festival

We are over the moon at getting to support Nazareth at the inaugural Speyside Music Festival in Aberlour. Organiser Andy McCloy has pulled out all the stops to make this gig a monster with the culmination on the main stage in The Alice Littler Park (where we'll be playing, woohoo!) as well as bands at The Aberlour Hotel and the Mash Tun pub all day. Check out the site for more details and make space in your diary for what is sure to be a fantastic day!

30/01/05 - New & exclusive MP3s

The Noise section has been updated with the following MP3s available for download:

FULL acoustic versions of Evergreen from the Time & Money EP and the previously unreleased Broken Illusion. These are part of a set recorded at The Loft in November 2003.

As well as that there is a demo edit of the brand new song World Of Lies, which will be recorded in April at The Mill Studios.

27/01/05 - Updates

Pulse Unsigned Airplay

Fear will be played from today (27th) during PulseUnsigned rock shows called 'It's Only Rock n Roll' (see website for schedule), via their website pulseunsigned.com and also Sky channel 905.

NO ONE KNOWS
BLIND FAITH
........................among others. Although titles and songs could change before release.

Speyside Festival 28th May

So far NAZARETH, MIND GONE BLIND, RAW GALLAGHER and LITTLE big MEN are confirmed so far...more news to follow.

22/01/05 - Comm gig cancelled

We've cancelled the gig on the 13th Feburary at The Comm to concentrate on recording.

10/01/05 - Happy New Year

Well it's 2005 and the first of the gigs are confirmed...check out the Gigs List

21/12/04 - Make Tracks

We reached the 18 band short list for the Channel Four's Ideas Factory Make Tracks project which will end with 10 bands chosen to feature on a Music Week cover CD. The track Fear!!! from the Time & Money CD (available online of course) has been selected and here's hoping for a good start to New Year...

16/12/04 - Downloads

The track Fear from our "Time & Money" EP was available to download on the mp3 section of HUBL. If you downloaded it, we hope you enjoyed it. If not...tough. Fear has been replaced by C Thru U, also from "Time & Money" but the version available for download is a one-off live recording of an acoustic version, performed a couple of years ago by Cammy & Moyz when they supported Tippy at The East Grange Loft. So, if you want to hear us unplugged click on the mp3 section of HUBL and download C Thru U from the list of available tracks...enjoy.

06/12/04 - Work In Progress

Those most ardent of MGB followers (both of you) will note that we have had no live gigs since the departure of Lugs.
We are, however, working our socks off as the MGB think tank (Prod's shed) once again reverberates with the sound of kick-ass rock music!

New drummer Rob has slotted in well with the band - he'd bloody well have to as his kit takes up half the shed! - and we are well on the way to completing our new CD. Check out these shots for a wee peek into the very core of Mind Gone Blind as we rehearse new material and plan our return to gig action!...something inside stirs.......

03/12/04 - Keith Chaos

Keith Chaos - MGB will be playing the newest and biggest music festival in the North East along with local bands The Method, Blue Gum Ears and some major bands (to be announced). This event is being organised by Steve Purves for Keith Cancer Link and will take place next year on June the 18th. Read all about it on the Keith Chaos website. Please give your support to this event as it is a worthy cause and amazing chance for a regular music festival in this area.

And there's more to come to family MGB with Phone due to become a father any day now

12/10/04 - Band profile updated.

10/10/04 - Review

Our Time & Money EP received an excellent review in Rock Pulse Magazine (9 out of 10)!!

02/10/04 - New drummer

We are delighted to welcome on board our new drummer Rob Hendry! Rob is from Buckie and has all his own hair and teeth. He lists his musical influences as Perry Como, Donovan, Nat King Cole and Lulu.

He has a degree in astro-physics and currently works as a Checkout Operative in MacDonalds with his preferred drum style being freestyle jazz. Honest! heh heh heh

Rob's REAL biog will be on the band section soon along with photo updates and we will be back in action at the end of the year.

Work is underway on our follow up to Time & Money, scheduled for release in Spring 2005.
